A WELCOME from WIMA's new International President: Rita Koopmanschap

From the Caribbean a little note about myself, about what motorcycling means to me and about what WIMA has to offer motorcycling women.
I have been quite a fanatic WIMA member since 1987. I was 19 at that time, riding my first Honda CB 750. Being a student I was very proud of being a motorcyclist and I enjoyed riding enormously. It gave me the feeling of freedom and excitement. Meeting other motorcycling women from all over the world definitely added to this joy: it offered me the opportunity to meet with a lot of wonderful, adventurous women interested in motorcycling, my favourite hobby ! So I made sure I never missed out on an international rally, because that was the place to be in summer. Moreover, I liked helping the Dutch division of WIMA to get all sorts of things organised, I edited our newsletter for a while and was the Dutch captain from approx. 1998-2001. In 2001, when I moved to Curacao (Netherlands Antilles) where I got a challenging new job as a teacher, I really missed WIMA. Still riding and in touch with many members, Sheonagh decided it was the right time for her to step down and for someone new to take over as President. Sheonagh has achieved many good things for WIMA and I will do the best I can to give all she did a proper follow up! I hope WIMA will offer you all you need and may expect of a worldwide women's motorcycle association. Let me know some time and ride safe !
